What is a
Baden-Powell Guild?

Do you want to be part of our little secret? It’s something a lot more people should know about and we would like to share our fun and fellowships with you and a friend today … and you can enjoy the satisfaction of doing it!

Here’s a brief outline about Baden-Powell Guilds generally:

•    The Baden-Powell Guild is an adult organization sharing fellowship between former Scouts, Guides, Leaders and Committee persons with other interested persons and supporters at Local, State, National & International levels. Anyone may join a Guild – no previous Scouting or Guiding experience is required.

•    All Guild Sub-Branches and their members enjoy close links with the Scouting and Guiding Movements and share their ideals. They are solely independent of these Movements in their activities and are an integral part of a State Guild in each State of Australia – and the Australian Guild at the national level.

•    The age of our members can be between 18 years and 80+ years – and it does not cost much to be a member – just an affordable joint annual club membership and affiliation fee.

•    There is no set uniform in Queensland – just what you normally wear plus a special scarf of distinction to show you are a member. Some states have a uniform. Some Guilds have a local arrangement. Some just wear a blue akubra broad-brimmed hat. Decisions are left entirely to the local Guild members themselves.

•    Here are just some of the
Social Activities we foster – there are many more … …

(a)    Barbecues, picnics, dinners, social get-togethers, family outings, theatre & community function nights
(b)    Caravanning, touring local areas, special camps, excursions, cruises, major tours, beach fun days

Service Activities in helping young people and the community can include:

(a)    Selected community fund raising events, catering projects, assisting with community & Eco projects

(b)    Promoting International Relations and learning from others irrespective of religion, culture or race
(c)    Enjoying group social travel holidays and going to conferences (Local, State, National & International)
