The Gympie Regional Scouting Hall of
Memories Scout Leaders Memorial Wall with the interim listings of Scout
Leaders who have passed on after years of excellent service serving the Movement in the
Gympie-Cooloola region. A wreath is to be placed on the memorial on Founders Day
each year. |
A Special Centenary Appeal:
To honour those Scout Leaders and Officials who gave many years of voluntary service to
the youth in the Scouting Movement in the Gympie-Cooloola region over the past 100 years,
a special Memorial Wall has been constructed on which honour plaques can be
placed in memory of their service and dedication to the Scouting.
Our thanks are extended to:
GB Masonry of Gympie who donated the bricks.
Gold City Brick and Landscaping of Gympie who donated all the
cement and mortar mixes.
The Nashville Cub Scout Leader Mr Warren Morgan of Warren Morgan
Bricklayers who constructed the wall at
no cost.
Cooloola Trophies & Engraving of Gympie who subsidised the
provision and engraving of the initial plaques for
the official opening of the Scouting Hall of Memories.
Family members, Scout Groups and their Executives who wish to place a plaque on
the Memorial Wall to honour those who have since passed on and who
served them well over the years may do so. Plaques may honour any person since their Group
commenced whether it be 5, 10 or 50 years. Many of these volunteers have gone unrecognised
and their wall of recognition has been designed to honour their achievements.
In most instances, family members and Scout Groups themselves only know the names of many
of these leaders and committee personnel. Although the Gympie Scouting Hall of Memories
does have a part-record of leaders and some past personnel it is far from complete
and the committee requires assistance so that no person is not recognised. Where there are
no longer relatives or where a group has closed, the Moonga (Gympie) Baden Powell Guild
endeavours to subsidise honour plaques where possible. The Guild has to rely on
information from existing family members or surviving Scout Groups to list those of whom
due recognition should be given.
The cost of a special brass plaque is $25 a small cost to
recognise those who gave their time, money and hard work to further the aims of the
Scouting Movement in the Gympie-Cooloola region. If you wish to honour one of your family
(or a Scout Group) who was a Leader or a Group person with a special plaque - contact the
Gympie Scouting Hall of Memories Committee Go to the Contact page for information. |
